These Etruscan Hoop Posts in 14k yellow gold hoops are cast in my studio (actually on the deck as casting needs good ventilation) from a granulated master for a limited edition series of hoops. I use fine silver for the original granulation, then make a mold, pull a wax copy from the mold, and then cast using the lost wax process with a vacuum.
Granulation is a fascinating and labor-intensive ancient fusing process that can only be done with certain alloys prone to fusing. 14k is not one of those metals. Casting allows me to make this design in hard-to-fuse metals.
These hoops have a 14k post and 14k gold ear nuts and a pair of silicone ear nuts for comfort!
These are the largest in my series of four Etruscan Hoop sizes - 30mm.
