These Hoop Posts are made from an Oval and Dot pattern and is 3 mm wide patterned band with ovals and heavy granules around a wavy center line. I solder a sterling silver post onto these Oval Dot Pattern Hoop Earrings and give them a coat of dark patina and polish and clean.
These hoops posts come in 3 sizes:
Large - 3mm wide and 1.25” in diameter
Medium - 3mm wide and .75” in diameter
Small - 3mm wide and .5” in diameter
I made the original band in Fine silver using the process of Granulation. I then made a mold of that polished granulated original, pulled some wax copies of it, and then cast them using the lost wax process.
Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans as well as other cultures around the globe. I alloy 24k gold down to 18k gold or use Fine Silver and create tiny granules and sort them by size. Then I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heat the piece using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface, in this case, a pattern made of slices from an oval ingot, a continuous meandering center line, and several sizes of my granules. I then make a mold and cut it for use, inject it with wax and use that wax copy to cast your ring! Then I clean it up and file it to shape and sand and polish and then add the dark patina and polish and clean and get it boxed and ready to ship out to you.
