This is very similar to the ring I made during the segment of “A Craftsman’s Legacy” on PBS a few years ago. I am happy to make one for you in your size.
Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans as well as other cultures around the globe. I create tiny granules with Fine Silver and sort them by size. Then I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heat the piece using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface.
The ring is then given a dark patina and the granules a high polish. The ring has been brushed with Renaissance Wax to hold the patina, which will change with wear.
