This lovely, luminous, moonstone is bezel-set in 18k rich yellow gold granulation on 18k gold. Granulation is an ancient fusing process utilized for thousands of years by the Etruscans and Mycenaeans. I alloy 24k gold down to 22k and 18k and create tiny granules. I place these granules with a 000 paint brush and then carefully heat using a mouth torch to the point of fusing. Each sphere is connected by a tangent of metal creating a sleek and beautiful surface. I then cut a seat for the cabochon and set the stone using a hammer and steel setting tool. A polish and thorough cleaning and it is ready for the chain of your choice.
You can have your pendant strung on an oxidized silver chain, or a 14k gold cable chain, or choose to use your own chain and purchase this one-of-a-kind pendant alone.
