This Skull Stick Pin is just darling if you like weird stuff. This Skull is wax carved by hand and cast using the ancient process of Lost Wax to cast them in sterling silver. I then made a mold, which I can inject with wax and make wax copies of the Skull and cast a lot of them. Once I have them cast. I clean up the sprue site and casting and then texture and oxidize the surface after soldering on the pin stem. I clean it again and give it a Wax finish to preserve the dark patina. This pin has a pin catch.

Death, Decay, Corruption, and constant reminders of our own mortality wait around every corner. What can we do but recognize and even celebrate these as reminders to live our lives more fully? The Stoic Philosophers of antiquity wrote that one can only live one’s life fully in the present moment by meditating on death’s inevitability. This is the thought process celebrated by Memento Mori art.
